Ana Bendaña McEwan - Biography
Ana P Bendaña is the General Manager at El Quetzal Estate located deep in the mountains of La Reserva Laguna Verde in the luscious mountains of Matagalpa, Nicaragua (Central America). She oversees the day-to-day operations of the 145-hectare farm and its 65 on site workers. She has dedicated her life to healthcare as an experienced clinical Registered Nurse (RN) in the clinical settings of Labor and Delivery, Oncology and Hospice & Palliative Care. As healthcare management, she has worked overseas for the Peace Corps as their Medical Officer, Operation Smile as their Executive Director and as an educator presenting in local, national, and international conferences. Her passion for life and death lead her to attain her Masters in Thanatology (the study of death). She encourages all adults to have healthy end-of-life conversations about what matters most to you; after all, we are mere mortals with expiration dates.Â
Retiring from work in the USA in early 2024, she moved to Nicaragua to assist in the family coffee production business, . She is looking forward to applying her knowledge and experience to grow the family enterprise by promoting and ensuring employees’ improved income as well as environmental, social, and inclusive sustainability. She is committed to life-long learning and eagerly looks forward to sharing with coffee aficionados as well as other coffee producers everywhere! Â
