Smooth bodied, jasmine black tea-like, 425 degree, light roast single-varietal Java. Great as drip or pour over. 

This farm direct reserve coffee is our modern take on our Java varietal. Crafted from the finest Nicaraguan coffee beans, this strictly high grown, farm-level java varietal is highly rated and brings a unique taste experience.

Our Nicaraguan Java beans have been a long time standout of El Quetzal Estate and the source of many of our long term buyer relationships. The varietal originates in the surrounding mountains and has been developed to produce an exceptional cup of coffee and stands up to a range of roasts.

Compare it to our fuller bodied and almost chocolatey medium-dark roast and we think even a novice will be surprised to taste the difference. When roasted lightly, the jasmine and floral notes shine creating a unique cup you won’t soon forget.

A Damn Fine Cup of Coffee...

This was my first time brewing Nicaraguan coffee, and I must say that I’m really impressed! The light and fragrant aroma of roasted beans wafting from the package made for a great first impression, and the brew was especially lovely. This was advertised as having a black tea-like profile, which got me interested since I’m a pretty big tea drinker as well. Within minutes of brewing, I could smell the tea notes and the sweetness backing them. I didn’t want to write a full review until I’d tried the coffee in all the ways I normally take it: hot without creamer, hot with creamer, cold without creamer, and cold with creamer.

Overall, I think this is a fantastic variety for supertasters and people who might be on the fence about coffee in general. This blend provides a great introduction to the much bolder flavors in the medium and dark roasts and, as with the medium roast, the more floral and citrus notes surfaced with a splash of creamer.

This coffee is absolutely delicious. It's low on acidity and has a wonderful depth of flavor. I usually like to have my coffee with a bit of cream, but I don't really have to add anything to this one to enjoy it. It's a real treat!
