As part of our commitment to sustainability, we are excited to announce our 2024 initiative to transition towards reusable nursery practices. This initiative involves the use of tables and tubes instead of traditional plastic bags, reducing waste and promoting a more eco-friendly approach to plant cultivation.
Why are we making this change?
The decision to move towards reusable nursery practices is driven by our dedication to environmental stewardship. By eliminating plastic bags and implementing tables and tubes, we can significantly reduce our carbon footprint and minimize the impact of our operations on the planet.
How do tables and tubes benefit the environment?
Tables and tubes offer a more sustainable alternative to plastic bags. Tables provide a stable and reusable platform for plant growth, while tubes offer a protective and reusable container for young plants. By utilizing these tools, we can reduce the amount of single-use plastic waste generated in our nursery. Given the tens of thousands of trees we are growing each year, the impact of this volume of plastic and the challenges of disposal is considerable. Adding to the existing challenges, more fragile but delicious varieties like Geisha require planting more seeds for the same output of mature trees only multiplying the potential waste.
What impact will this initiative have?
By transitioning to tables and tubes, we aim to reduce our plastic waste output by 50% in 2024. This shift towards reusable nursery practices will not only benefit the environment but also set a positive example for others in the industry to follow suit.
Join us in our journey towards sustainability
We invite our customers, partners, and stakeholders to join us in this important initiative. Together, we can make a significant impact on the environment and work towards a more sustainable future for generations to come.
Thank you for supporting our 2024 initiative to move towards reusable nursery practices. Together, we can make a difference.
